Haymarket Riot: occured at Haymarket Square in Chicago on May 4, 1886/ unemployed people threw a bomb and killed police officers/ some were hanged, another committed suicide in jail. This was a largely ineffective tactic for the strikers due to the fact that it made the public view the strikers as bomb toting thugs.
